So, SideReader? Any questions?

SideReader is designed to keep your work on your device. These answers cover the details that solve most support questions fastest.

Using SideReader

How long does a SideReader video take to render?

Render time depends on your device's performance, the length of the recording, its resolution and frame rate, and whether SideReader is creating one output or both portrait and landscape outputs. Longer, higher-quality videos take more time.

Rendering is not instant. Unlike a regular camera app that can make a simple recording available almost immediately, SideReader has to process the video before the finished file is ready. Please wait for that process to complete.

What should I do if rendering fails or I see an error?

Keep the original take in SideReader if it is still available, check that your device has free storage, and try the export again. If the problem continues, email hello@clapps.me.

Tell us what the error said, where the process stopped, which save destination you selected, and whether you were creating a portrait, landscape, or Dual recording. A screenshot of the error can help, but please leave out private content.

What details help with a recording or export problem?

Tell us whether you used the front or rear camera, Single or Dual recording, portrait or landscape orientation, and SideReader Only, Photos Only, or Both as the destination. Describe whether the result was rotated, mirrored, cropped, blank, missing audio, or out of sync.

Why can’t SideReader use my camera, microphone, or Photos?

First check SideReader's permissions in your device Settings. Camera and microphone access are required to record, while Photos access is needed only when you choose to save there. If access is already enabled, email us with your device and system version.

What helps when reporting a Teleprompter or Voice Pace issue?

Include the selected speed, font size, text position, and whether Voice Pace was listening, paused, or following the wrong part of the script. A short description of the script structure—such as blank lines or repeated phrases—is usually more useful than sending the script itself.

Does SideReader upload my scripts or recordings?

No. SideReader is local-first, so your scripts, recordings, takes, photos, and files stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them. Please share only the support details you are comfortable sending.

Can I send diagnostics without sharing private content?

Yes. In SideReader, open Tools, expand Support & Diagnostics, and prepare a Usage Log Package. Script text and full file paths are removed by default. Review the privacy options before sharing the package.

Clapps & support

What is Clapps?

Clapps is a small software design studio in Los Angeles. We build thoughtful tools for creative people, starting with SideReader for actors and creators.

How do I contact Clapps support?

Email hello@clapps.me. It is the direct support channel for SideReader help, accessibility feedback, privacy requests, and other Clapps questions.

What should I include in a support email?

Tell us your SideReader version, device model, iOS or iPadOS version, the steps that led to the issue, and what you expected to happen. It also helps to say whether the issue happens every time or only occasionally.

Please do not send private scripts, recordings, identification, passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information unless it is genuinely necessary.

Can I send an idea or feature request?

Absolutely. Email hello@clapps.me and tell us what would make SideReader more useful to you. We read every message, even when we cannot promise that a particular feature will be added.

Do I need a Clapps account to use SideReader?

No. SideReader does not require a Clapps account, and there is no support profile you need to find before contacting us.

Where can I read Clapps’ policies?

You can read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service here on Clapps.me.
